The question of electoral integrity is complex but increasingly recognized as being a key framework in which to approach the role of elections in democratic societies. The concept has received increasing attention among both scholars and policy-makers, especially as threats to electoral integrity and democracy have been on rise. The event will be a panel presentation, with speakers presenting on:
The Carter Center – Updating TCC’s Handbook on Obligations and Standards
Electoral Assistance Division of the UN Department of Political Affairs (UNEAD) – Building trust in elections: Perspectives from the UN
Elections Canada – Introducing Elections Canada new Electoral Integrity Framework
Electoral Integrity Project – Global Electoral Integrity
Electoral Institute for Sustainable Democracy in Africa (EISA) – Experiences with EISA’s electoral integrity tool in the Gambia
The International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES) – Understanding and Addressing Trust in Democracy
International Institute of Electoral Assistance (IDEA) – Promoting electoral integrity through online campaign finance reforms

Taking advantage of the wide range of perspectives offered by the partners of the ACE Electoral Knowledge Network, this event will allow participants to hear presentations on different themes, tools, and initiatives on electoral integrity developed by major organizations working on democracy and elections around the world.
This event was a moderated panel presentation with a Q&A period, it is free of charge and open to all interested attendees.

It provides comprehensive information and specialised advice on any aspect of electoral processes. The foremost aim of ACE, is to foster the integrity of elections and to promote credible, sustainable, professional and inclusive electoral processes throughout the globe.
Launched at the United Nations in 1998 by International IDEA, the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES), and the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UNDESA), ACE was initially created as the Administration and Cost of Elections project. It was the world’s first online resource of its kind in the field of elections.
